British journalist Mark Bannerman and his young photographer assistant Peter Blake travel to the South American Andes to investigate a series of attacks on a nuclear power station. Bannerman comes to believe this may have been caused by some giant beast.

This serial continued the partnership of Flood and Guidotti, which began in the Pathfinders In Space saga. They would also appear as Bannerman and Blake in City Beneath the Sea and Secret Beneath the Sea.
