Slim Whitman
American country and folk music singer-songwriter known for his yodelling style
Ottis Dewey "Slim" Whitman Jr. (January 20, 1923 – June 19, 2013) was an American country and western, and folk music singer-songwriter known for his yodelling abilities and his smooth, high, three-octave-range falsetto in a style christened as "countrypolitan".[1]
Whitman released almost 100 singles in the UK between 1954 and the mid-1980s[2], but only had eight hits between 1955 and 1974, including his #1 hit "Rose Marie"[3].
His first appearance on a budget compilation album in the UK was on Warwick's 1979 release Country Portraits[4].
