Sister Sledge
Sister Sledge is an American musical vocal group formed in 1971 by sisters Debbie, Joni, Kim, and Kathy Sledge. The siblings achieved international success at the height of the disco era. In 1979, assisted by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards of Chic, they released their breakthrough album We Are Family, which included the singles "He's the Greatest Dancer", "We Are Family", and "Lost in Music". Although Kathy undertook a solo career in 1989, she continued to tour with the group, occasionally rejoining for one-off performances and several releases in the 1990s.[1]
Their first "As advertised on TV" compilation album appearance in the UK was on Super Beeb's BBC TV's Best of Top of the Pops Vol 3 in 1975, with "Mama Never Told Me"[2], which was originally released in 1973[3] and was their first UK hit single, peaking at #20[4] when it was re-released in 1975.
