Jim Reeves
American country and popular music singer-songwriter known as "Gentleman Jim"
Jim Reeves (August 20, 1923 – July 31, 1964) was an American country and popular music singer-songwriter with records charting from the 1950s to the 1980s. Known as "Gentleman Jim", Reeves died in the crash of his private aeroplane.[1]
Reeves had been releasing singles in the UK from 1954[2] but he did not achieve a UK hit single until 1960 with "He'll Have To Go", which peaked at #12. The hits continued up until 1972.[3]
His first appearance on a budget compilation album in the UK was on Camden's 1971 release Country Giants Vol 3.[4]
