Released by K-Tel in November 1979[1], Night Moves quickly entered the UK Albums Chart - w/e November 24, 1979 - at #38 beginning a run of 21 weeks in total. It peaked at #10 w/e December 15, 1979[2].

Unusually for K-Tel, there was not tag line on the album sleeve, announcing "20 ORIGINAL STARS - ORIGINAL HITS".

The album was also released for a promotion by Mars and was re-named 1980 - The Sound Explosion, with the tagline: "20 ORIGINAL HITS OFFERED BY MARS & RAIDER".[3]
In 1984, K-Tel released another album with the same title (NE 1255) in UK. Only Roxy Music appeared on both, but with different songs. You might also include Randy Crawford, who appears on the 1979 album with the Crusaders, and solo on the 1984 album.[4]
