Bridges is a collection of pieces of guitar music performed by the guitarist John Williams. It was released on both the Lotus Records and K-Tel labels in 1979, with different covers[1][2]. Lotus were aligned with K-Tel[3]. The cover featuring a close up of a guitar was used for the album released by K-Tel in the UK. All Lotus releases (including those in the UK), and those by K-Tel outside of the UK, featured a bridge, and a picture of John Williams, on the cover (below)[2]. It comprises 12 tracks and features "Cavatina", first released on Changes in 1971 and first released as a single in 1976[4]. used as the theme for the 1978 film 'The Deer Hunter'[5] and released again as a single in 1979[6], when it made it to #13 in the UK Singles Chart[7].

The album initially entered the UK Albums Chart w/e June 30, 1979 at #25 beginning a run of 19 weeks. It peaked at #5 w/e July 14, 1979. It returned to the chart at #74 w/e January 5, 1980, for two weeks, and then for one further week at #74, w/e February 2, 1980[8]. Note Official Charts merge the records for the both artists known as John Williams (the guitarist, and the composer).
