An advert by Charisma Records stated that We Are Most Amused (CAS 1156) would be released in October 1981.

Daily Express (December 10, 1981)
Radio 1 DJ Anne Nightingale wrote: "ONE of the biggest sellers over Christmas will be WE ARE MOST AMUSED (Ronco), the comedy compilation album put together in aid of Prince Charles Trust Charities. Advance orders have already exceeded 150,000 and the double album should hit the Top Ten by next week. And although Prince Charles declined to write a sleeve-note, he is expected to host a party for the artists appearing in the New Year."

Hartlepool Mail (January 2, 1982)
Paul Screeton wrote that "More than 40 of the funniest men and women in Britain have generously contributed to this special album...and all the proceeds will go to benefit the nation's youth." "Here is humour to suit all types of person and a real family fun album to listen to (Charisma/Ronco)."
